Hindi Vishvabharati (Nagari Bhandar, Bikaner) organised a distinguished lecture titled ‘Life Management in the Gita’ at the Maharaja Narendra Auditorium, Nagari Bhandar, Bikaner, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of its founder and renowned scholar, the late Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri. Scholars, researchers, students, and intellectuals associated with the fields of education, philosophy, literature, and the Indian knowledge tradition participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
The keynote speaker, eminent educationist and philosopher Prof. Shivnarayan Joshi (Retired Professor of Philosophy, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur), stated in his lecture that the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a divine scripture containing solutions to every problem in human life. He remarked that attachment and fear are the root causes of most problems in a person’s life; if an individual conquers these two, their life can become peaceful, balanced, and prosperous. Quoting various verses from the Gita, he explained the concept of Nishkama Karmayoga (selfless action), noting that performing one’s duties while renouncing the desire for the fruits of action is the path to true success and inner contentment. He further clarified that the Gita conveys a message not only of individual salvation but also of collective welfare and the common good, making it increasingly relevant in contemporary social and professional life.
In his address, the distinguished guest Dr Ghanshyam Atre stated that the Gita presents a unique synthesis of the three Yogas: Karma (action), Jnana (knowledge), and Bhakti (devotion). He observed that the Gita offers solutions to every question regarding human life; the only requirement is for the individual to learn how to ask the right questions and engage in appropriate introspection.
Another distinguished guest, Dr Manmohan Singh Yadav, expressed his views by stating that the Gita is the world’s finest text on life management. Today, not only India but the entire world is embracing the principles of the Gita as a guide for personal development, leadership capabilities, decision-making, and ethical living. It was noted that the message of the Gita is timeless and universal, transcending the boundaries of time, society, and circumstances.
The event was presided over by Swami Samvit Vimarshanand Giri Ji, Adhishthata of ‘Manav Prabodhan Prayas’ at Shivbari (Bikaner). In his presidential address, he stated that the Gita serves as the spiritual and philosophical foundation not only for human life but for the functioning of the entire creation and the universe. He remarked that the wisdom contained in the Gita inspires individuals towards self-realisation, a sense of duty, and a global perspective, and that its teachings are vital for humanity in the present times.
At the beginning of the program, Dr Rajender Kumar, Secretary of Hindi Vishva Bharati, outlined the lecture series and introduced the organisation’s activities. He mentioned that for the past six decades, Hindi Vishva Bharati has been continuously working to preserve and promote the history, language, literature, and culture of Rajasthan, as well as the Indian tradition of knowledge; this lecture series represents a significant link in that ongoing effort. He highlighted that a primary objective of the organisation is to highlight the contributions of the late Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri Ji—in the fields of education, language, and culture—to the new generation.
In his welcome address, the organisation’s President, Dr Girija Shankar Sharma, greeted the guests and scholars present, noting that the late Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri Ji had established Hindi Vishva Bharati with the aim of advancing the rich traditions of Indian culture, research, and intellectual discourse. His ideals continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the organisation.
At the conclusion of the event, Treasurer Dr Mohammad Farooq Chauhan expressed gratitude to all the guests, scholars, and the audience. The program was skillfully and effectively conducted by Sanjay Purohit.
A large number of teachers, researchers, students, litterateurs, social activists, and citizens attended the lecture series. The program provided a significant opportunity to understand the Indian knowledge tradition—particularly the practical, life-relevant messages of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita—within a contemporary context, and inspired the audience to embrace life values, a sense of duty, and a positive outlook on life.

Special lecture by Professor Shiv Kumar Bhanot and the launch of the research journal ‘Vishwambhara’ under the new project “Yug-Yugin Bikaner” of Hindi Vishwa Bharati in Bikaner.

Bikaner, 6 September 2025 – A grand event of the special lecture organized under the Hindi Vishwa Bharati project ‘Yugyugin Bikaner’ and the release ceremony of the research journal ‘Vishwambhara’ was held at Narendra Auditorium, Nagari Bhandar, Station Road, Bikaner. Hindi Vishwa Bharati President Dr. Girija Shankar Sharma started the program by welcoming the guests present in the program.

The chief guest and keynote speaker of this third lecture was Prof. S.K. Bhanot, the former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of History, Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner. He kept the topic of his lecture as ‘First War of Independence of 1857 and Bikaner’.

Pro. Throwing deep light on this historical topic, Bhanot said that it would be unfair to see the rebellion of 1857 only as ‘Gadar’. Analysis of contemporary documents makes it clear that this rebellion was India’s first freedom struggle against the British. While strongly criticizing the military support given to the British by the ruler of Bikaner, Maharaja Sardar Singh, he praised the support of the nationalist ideology by the common people. Also, stressed the need to do more in-depth research on the documents related to this area.

Prof. is presiding over the program. B.L. Bhadani also Prof. Supporting Bhanot’s views; he said that further expansion of research is necessary to highlight the cooperation of the common people.

On this occasion, Hindi Visva Bharati’s research magazine ‘Vishwambhara’ was also released. The editor of the magazine, Dr. Rajendra Kumar, highlighted its features and clarified its purpose and importance.

At the end of the program, Sanjay Purohit expressed his gratitude to the guests. The program was conducted by Dr. Manisha Vishwakarma.

A large number of dignitaries, scholars, historians, litterateurs, researchers and social workers of Bikaner were present in the programme. Chief guests included Dr. Prithviraj Ratanu, Prof. Sukha Ram, Shri Krishna Lal Bishnoi, Dr. Avinash Pareek, Dr. Rajshekhar Purohit, Dr. Prabha Bhargava, Dr. Manmohan Singh Yadav, Dr. Manisha Vishwakarma, Mahendra Panchariya, Dr. Shivratan Nayak, Dr. Mohammad Farooq Chauhan, Kamal Rang, Dr. Ajay Joshi, Vikas Pareek, Mayank Pareek, Amar Singh Khangarot, Sanjay Purohit, Ravi Purohit, Atmaram Bhati, Jitendra Suthar, Bhaskar Vaishnav, Rakesh Sharma, Akhilesh Singh etc. were prominently involved.

This program provided an important platform to encourage regional research work by highlighting the historical and cultural importance of Bikaner.
