Hindi Vishva Bharati was established on June 26, 1957. Under the auspices of Rajasthan’s oldest organization, the “Bikaner Sahitya Sammelan,” scholars like Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri, Dr. Dashrath Sharma, Gaurishankar Acharya, and Pt. Vishweshwarnath Reu focused their early years on dialogue, creativity, writing, and research in areas such as the national language, education, literature, science, social welfare, Indian culture, and world friendship. This organization was registered on 16 January 1959 under the Society Act 1958- 59 of the Rajasthan Government in the name of Hindi Vishva Bharati. In keeping with the above trends, the publication of the quarterly research journal “Vishvambhara” was initiated in 1961 under the auspices of the organization. It was granted registration number 10251/61 in 1965. Despite limited financial resources, it continues to publish high-quality articles by scholars from across the country. Through the efforts of this Vishvambhara family, several special issues have been published on the following scholars, such as Pt. Vishweshwarnath Reu, Dr. Dashrath Sharma, Shri Narottamdas Swami, Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri, Nathuram Khadgawat, Muralidhar Vyas, Pt. Rawat Saraswat, Dr. Manohar Sharma, Pt. Akshay Chandra Sharma, Dr. Karan Singh, and Dr. Diwakar Sharma, who are in great demand from a research perspective.
Previous issues of the Vishvambhara journal are currently available for perusal at Hindi Vishva Bharati, Nagari Bhandar, Bikaner. These issues contain research articles by subject experts on the economic, social, religious, and cultural aspects of ancient, medieval, and modern history. These articles are being published in one place, providing great value to research scholars, and researchers across the country are interested in including this issue in their collections. In this vein, in the tradition of the 2010 combined issue of “Vishvambhara,” for the convenience of scholars engaged in research in the field of literature and culture, the organization has done remarkable work by separately publishing, in chronological order, the regular literary seminars, speeches, reflections on various topics, and essays prepared and read after self-study by writers on the premises of Hindi Vishva Bharati, from its infancy to the present. Along with the events held at the institute, such as literary awards, tributes, conferences, literary exhibitions, scholarly symposia, birth anniversaries, literary Upanishads, symposia, lecture series, book discussions, book reviews, and launches, and reader forums, etc.
Currently, innovations are being made to facilitate research in the country. In particular, various changes are being made in the creation and publication of reference media (search references) for research material. Keeping this in mind, the Vishvambhara family has serially published photographs taken through various media outlets during the aforementioned literary events at Hindi Vishva Bharati, some of which were received by the organization. For the convenience of literary research scholars, some of these photographs have been serially published in previous issues of Vishvambhara. It is hoped that this research reference will prove useful in some way for research scholars.
Over the years, its two-time editors, namely Shri Pt. Vidyadhar Shastri, Dr. Manohar Sharma, Dr. Diwakar Sharma, and the current editor-in-chief, Dr. Girija Shankar Sharma, with the support of advisory boards of authoritative scholars from across the country, have succeeded in elevating Vishvambhara magazine to a prestigious research journal. Currently, the journal is under the able control of Dr. Rajender Kumar.
It is worth noting that before 2009, the journal was regularly distributed from Hindi Vishva Bharati to the libraries of almost all Hindi-speaking universities in the country. Additionally, the Ministry of Human Resources of the Government of India regularly purchased fifty copies of Vishvambhara and sent them to central libraries across the country. However, a subsequent change in the government’s funding policy disrupted this process. Thus, even then, like other prestigious research institutions, Hindi Vishva Bharati continues to publish this important research journal, Vishvambhara, within its own resources.
