A special lecture and the release ceremony of the research journal “Vishwambhara” were held at the Narendra Auditorium, Nagari Bhandar, Station Road, Bikaner, as part of the Hindi Vishva Bharati project “Bikaner through the Ages (युग-युगीन बीकानेर)” Dr. Girija Shankar Sharma, President of Hindi Vishwa Bharati, welcomed the guests and began the program.
The chief guest and keynote speaker for this third lecture was Professor S.K. Bhanot, former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of History, Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner. He addressed the topic of his lecture, “The First War of Independence of 1857 and Bikaner.”
Prof. Bhanot, delving deeply into this historical topic, stated that it would be inappropriate to view the 1857 rebellion solely as a “mutiny.” Analysis of contemporary documents clearly demonstrates that this rebellion was India’s first war of independence against the British. He strongly criticized the military support provided to the British by Maharaja Sardar Singh, the ruler of Bikaner, and praised the public’s support for nationalist ideology. He also stressed the need for more in-depth research on documents related to this field.
Prof. B.L. Bhadani, who chaired the program, also supported Prof. Bhanot’s views and said that further expansion of research is necessary to highlight the contribution of the general public.
On this occasion, Hindi Vishva Bharati’s research journal ‘Vishvambhara’ was also released. The Secretary of Organization and editor of the journal, Dr. Rajender Kumar, highlighted its features and explained its purpose and importance.
At the end of the program, Sanjay Purohit expressed his gratitude to the guests. The program was conducted by Dr. Manisha Vishwakarma.
A large number of dignitaries, learned historians, litterateurs, researchers, and social workers from Bikaner were present at the program. Prominent guests included Dr. Prithviraj Ratnoo, Prof. Sukha Ram, Shri Krishna Lal Bishnoi, Dr. Avinash Pareek, Dr. Rajshekhar Purohit, Dr. Prabha Bhargava, Dr. Manmohan Singh Yadav, Dr. Manisha Vishwakarma, Mahendra Pancharia, Dr. Shivratan Nayak, Dr. Mohammad Farooq Chauhan, Mr. Kamal Ranga, Dr. Ajay Joshi, Mr. Vikas Pareek, Mayank Pareek, Mr. Amar Singh Khangarot, Mr. Sanjay Purohit, Mr. Ravi Purohit, Mr. Atmaram Bhati, Jitendra Suthar, Bhaskar Vaishnav, Rakesh Sharma, and Akhilesh Singh etc. were prominently present.
